Bleak Khmer New Year beckons as another 181 COVID-19 positive cases detected along with three deaths

Cambodia today confirmed 181 new cases of COVID-19, all but three are linked to the February 20 Community incident, bringing the event’s total case to 4,160 and the national tally to 4,696 of which, 4,160 are the community cases.

 

Like usual in the past two weeks, the bulk of the new cases have been detected in Phnom Penh, with 140 people, including 139 Cambodians and 1 French, testing positive for the coronavirus yesterday.

 

The rest of the new community infection cases have been found in the following provinces:

 
  • 3 cases in Kandal (a Cambodian man, 25, and two Cambodian women, age 48 and 71)
  • 1 case in Kratie (a 29-year-old Cambodian woman)
  • 1 case in Preah Vihear (a 29-year-old Cambodian woman)
  • 4 cases in Siem Reap (2 Cambodian men, age 21 and 50, and 2 Cambodian women, age 21 and 50)
  • 1 case in Takeo (a 21-year-old Cambodian man)
  • 8 cases in Sihanoukville (7 Cambodians and 1 Vietnamese)
  • 6 cases in Prey Veng ( all Cambodians)
  • 14 cases in Svay Rieng (13 Cambodians and 1 Indonesian)
