Current STV requirements

Featured Replies

Can't see a recent post on this....

I'm looking into an STV and the requirements on the form from my local Thai consulate mention proof of 500,000 THB in current

 account.

I thought I read somewhere that this requirement had been dropped. Can anyone confirm whether it is being exercised?

The money in the bank option was dropped some time ago. The consulate website apparently out of date. What consulate website are you looking at?

This one on a Thai embassy is correct.

It was the Thai Embassy in KL in fact...

I also see through your link that there is a requirement to show proof of residency in the US. For a non-Malaysian this would be a permanent residency card, which I don't currently have. Is this something the embassies usually enforce? I.e. is STV available for somebody who is not currently in their home country, and does not have a permanent residency in the country where they currently are?

Cheers

For the STV being a citizen or resident is a requirement at all embassies as far as I know.

Looking at other types of visas on the KL embassy website it not a requirement.
