Guderian
A year ago, when Pattaya hadn't recorded a locally transmitted case for weeks, the mayor suddenly went berserk and locked down the Bright Side. Yet now, with 50 or 60 new cases every day, he's sitting on his thumbs in City Hall (that's the politest way I could find of putting it) and doing nothing useful wrt limiting the spread of the wretched virus. What is it with Thai politicians, they're either hyperactive or fast asleep? It's the same with the government, if they'd announced a nationwide travel ban 2 weeks ago then the current outbreak would be fizzling out by now, instead of which we're starting to look like a disaster zone and the PM is spouting nonsense (well, more nonsense than usual, lol). This is what he said yesterday: "The premier said the latest outbreak, before the Songkran holiday, caused ripples that can still be felt, resulting in the increase in the number of daily new patients....General Prayut instructed officials to be ready to expedite the vaccination operation and to plan for rehabilitation and compensation in the future." You had a once-only chance to nip it in the bud, Prayut, and you bottled it. Idiot.
