Bank transfers while abroad

Featured Replies

Do you think it is possible to transfer money(rent) to a Thai account(landlord) from another Thai account(mine) while abroad using my bank thai app and receiving the OTP in roaming using my Thai sim in my telephone?
I hope you got it 55555555
Of course I've already asked at the bank and I even called the assistance .... nobody knows for sure ????
Thanks for any useful informations

If you can get the OTP delivered to your phone it should work. With some Thai sim cards you have to get roaming enabled as it is disabled by default.

It works fine and costs nothing to receive SMS's but make sure 1) roaming is enabled by your phone service provider and 2) unless you buy a data roaming package you'll want to turn off mobile data while roaming or run up a large bill.  This of course means you'll need a wifi connection to use the bank app.

Not sure about other banks but if it is a transfer you have done before Bangkok Bank does not require a OTP.

I send money with Bangkok Bank and Kasikorn  apps regularly from outside Thailand with WIFI only.  I never receive SMS.

It may be option selected in App or option selected when I set up accounts, don't honestly remember.  But either way no issue for me at least.

YMMV

Been using Kbank online since 2004. Since 2009 for payments of condo bills each month. Always used my Thai mobile when in the UK for receiving OTP texts. Never a problem. Now also had the Kbank app on my phone since 2019 and never a problem with that either.

If you're in Thailand at the moment, set them up as a payee while you're still here.  That may involve receiving an SMS OTP that won't then be required for future transactions.

If you're not, then it'll probably still work but this way it might be easier to address any issues that do come up.

Smart idea. I'll certainly do that. I've just found out that the OTP is only required for the first two transfers.
Thank you.
