BANGKOK (TNA) - Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha said the cabinet resolved to give 2,000-baht subsidies through "We Win" and "We Love Each Other" schemes.

The subsidies under each scheme will be offered in a two-week period breaking down to 1,000 baht per week. They would help about 8 million people and the validity period of the schemes is extended to June, Gen Prayut said.

The prime minister also said that almost 2 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines were used and the cabinet considered the vaccination as one of its national agenda.

So generous!

But like so much of what this "wonderful man" does, is all for show.

He could easily help people more, much more.

2 bloomin' thousand baht? Laughable.

Time to avoid the banks  then as this  means the hordes  will be queueing up outside  again, down the road and round the block for 100km.

Oh look, Dear Leader is standing atop the Democracy Monument throwing sweeties at all the poor masses.

up here in isaan the people can do with the money but what makes me laugh is they think it's the prime minister giving them the money personally i think it's to justify his own personal ego

Ohh Prayut you are such a wonderful kind caring/ giving person, the peasants are sure to love you.????

Everything he does is just to boost his ego, cause he dont give a rats backside about the rank and file people here.

Clueless.....

I wonder how many of these cabinet ministers who so generously approved this aid package would be able to make-do with a 1,000 baht per week.

How much is their PR team paid?  ...it's definitely too much

why 5k a month last year for 3 months and this time 2k over 2 weeks now things are far worse for people? 2 thousand baht is not much more than an insult, win win and love each other is the equivalent of let them eat cake.

A shabby dump of what Thai call  an apartment costs around 2000thb per month.

Then there are:

Toiletries.

Food.

Water.

Medication.

Laundry.

Clothing etc...

In other words basic living costs.

Thailand is ranked a 3rd world (progressive) country. Not surprising.

Small feet in big boots...

How do they decide who gets the handouts?
One of my wife's friend works in an large Insurance company who's income hasn't been effected at all is getting lots of handouts

but another friend who's self employed hasn't received diddly squat so far.

What is the old age pension rate currently in Thailand?

600? 800?

2000 in 2 weeks compare ok.

But if vaccination the agenda, should connect handout to registering for the jab....there would be incentive, a boost for the lackluster try to get ppl sign up.

"We Win" and  We Love Each Other"

Shouldn't it be "I win" and I Love Myself" schemes?
