The downtown shopping center of Siam Square One in Pathumwan district became the latest place that Thai netizens on social media were sharing pictures of.

Pictures of the fact that the place was almost completely devoid of people and activity.

Pete Perapat  Eatwithpete started the ball rolling.

Daily News said that no one had ever seen the area like this after the third wave of the pandemic left it deserted.

Many places in the city are empty.  People working from home, businesses and restaurants basically closed except for deliveries of food and take away orders.  There was an entire mall, Union Mall near Central Lad Prao that has now closed up until at least the end of the month due to a lack of customers.  Can only get worse as this wave continues and vaccines are slowly rolling out.  Not sure their Tourism plans will work as they hope either.  Stay safe.

I live/work in siam square, and it is indeed a ghost town.

In addition,  siam bts station has just a smattering of people in it during the used be rush hour times

Paragon et al. are similarly deserted even at lunchtime and weekends

One has to wonder who all the taxi drivers are transporting around with no one around.

I saw a taxi meter stop in front of condo. Driver came to this desk in front of main door that food delivery guys drop food on and take a photo of the slot number where they left it... he dropped a bag, took photo, got back into cab and drove off.

Didn't expect that Grab taxi drivers would also be doing food delivery now. But I guess desperate times call for desperate measures?

Streets void of people, hospitals void of vaccines.. get used to it, this is Prayuts vaccine programme.

They should have all been closed anyway !!!

But had they closed they would have had to give massive rent reductions.

It is the Governments way of looking after their wealthy landlords

I see dentists, Orthodontist, restaurants being closed not just temporarily. Devastating.

The millions of tourists.

Wifey was sent some pics of major markets in Bangkok now completely deserted.  I can't remember the street, but do remember it as massively busy.  Now, nary a sole.  Crazy times.
