Thailand will officially enter the rainy season this Saturday, with more rain than last year and rainfall over the entire season anticipated to be 5%-10% more than average, said Meteorological Department Director-General Nattapon Nattasomboon today (Wednesday).

 

Rainfall for the first half of the rainy season will be widespread and more than average but, in the second half, the situation will return to normal, he said, but warned of heavy rain, which may result in flash floods in some areas during the second half of the season.

 

The rainy season will end in October for the northern part of Thailand, but, in the southern region, especially on the eastern coast, the season will persist until January next year.

The officials must have filed the rainy season application early, complete with 90-day report and seasoned bank account.

Let's hope Anutin does not tax Thais for the excess water

Rain season started here 2 months ago. It has rained on most days with only one 2 day period without rain.

Already looking forward to dry season.

surely, if is already raining for over a month, if they expect up to 10% more, they should announce this season earlier. Just for the sake of local authorities to do preparations for flood. 

even, if there were an earlier warnings, indeed, they should make a point, to force them to take an emergency action, allocate funds, equipment, workforce.

it's much more difficult to dredge drains, canals, retention ponds when they are already filled with water. 

Just stopped raining in the south after around two weeks of being cloudy and rainy

 

By the way, 5-10% more rain? Wasn't there a BIG news about heavy rainfalls in May Thailand hasn't seen since 30 years or so? I read that the government was preparing for record rainfall. Now... nothing? 

They'll be moaning and groaning about floods like they have done for the last two decades that I've been around.  Once the flood waters recede?  Outta sight, outta mind until the next floods.  But coming soon ????????
