unblocktheplanet
WAAAYYY too early to consider indoor dining, particularly in high traffic areas like shopping malls. This is the mistake nearly every other country has made: opening up too early. Sorry to say, much too early to open schools, too. Suck it up. Open & numbers climb. I don't want to breathe your air, thanks all the same. 1

Honestly the only rule more ludicrous than this is the one that said two or more people riding in the same car had to be masked. I would like to see the study that shows that dropping a mask to drink a beer or glass of wine is more hazardous than dropping your mask to drink your water or soft drink. For those who say that the drinking causes rowdiness and more up front exposure I say bull pucky. I have dined throughout the world for almost 7 decades and never experience a single incident in a dining establishment of such behavior. And, IF it was to occur there is no reason to think the establishment would not take immediate action to remove the offending patron. The only thing accomplished by this rule is guaranteeing that dining establishments will not be able to make a profit. Most dining establishments make little to nothing off the meals and all of their profits are generated from alcoholic beverages. 2
natway09
Somebody high up must own a chain of restaurants ? Skeptic7
Should have never closed to dine-in. 50% capacity would have sufficed. Should reopen to minimum 50% capacity...and allow alcohol sales.

cclub75
It's easy to understand : those pseudos rules have no effect. It's been 2 weeks already. And ? Nothing. Still 2000 cases per day, blablabla, we all going to die. So 2 things happened : -people in Bangkok are really upset about the dining in ban. Take away everyday is boring. -and there is the school problem... End of april it was easy... only international schools were concerned. Easy target nobody cared.... But now thai school start to reopen... And the "online" BS is not practical for young children... Again people can't stay home to take care of young children everyday... Hence the "Reality Principle"... The gvt must tame its big ideas... and release some pressure. Singapore can close for 1 month... It's a rich city... But 4 or 6 provinces in Thailand (dark red) ? The thai society is broken... The "zero Covid" ideology is an ideology for rich people (and island people, like New Zeland). Thailand starts to pay the price now. Thailand needs to learn how to live with Covid (a very little threat)... And stop trying "mimic" rich countries (like Europe) who are happy to suicide themselves. Because financially they can. Thailand can't. Edited May 15, 2021 by cclub75

Right no effect, no rules.. an explosion of covid, now with a semi lockdown we got the numbers looking stable. Seems like me its all doing what it should do. No lockdown no measure will ever be able to remove this virus. All they are doing is making sure the healthcare system does not explode. Just in case you havent seen the news that is what could happen. So yes the measures have effect the stopped the spread, stopped the healthcare from not being able to cope. Though we have to see if these numbers are not too high already. But no you want to open things up. Smart thinking ???? You have a point about the costs of things but that is the same the world over everyone suffers from this horrid virus.

For instance New-Zeland. But to close schools, dining in, ban alcool sales in restaurants (a big part of their margins).... for 2000 cases per day, and 20 to 30 deads per day... it's madness. It's possible to do it, to mimic other countries... for a few months... But on the long run for a country like Thailand, it is madness. Now we start to pay. Imagine that the virus is endemic now... and that it will come back periodically... 2 times per year... Do you seriously believe we can continue this circus : closing many places, "dark red status", borders closed etc. Stop and go ? Do you seriously believe that people can live with the few thousands THB given by the governement ? Enough of this BS. We need to reopen everything like Texas ! And we need to live with Covid risks (small) like we do for car accidents, dengue fever and a sxxxload of other problems, disasters and diseases. It's called LIFE. Couldn't agree more...and as I wrote on another thread : 'there are no guarantees and nothing is risk free, especially not in the game of life'. The only thing I disagree with you on is 'Now we start to pay'. Not me at all. Not one little bit. THAIS start to pay and have been and will be for a LONG time to come. Good. It's always been the case that the more they make mistakes, bad decisions and shoot themselves in the foot...the better for me/us. Been waiting for another tum yum goong style financial crisis since the last one 23 years ago. LONG overdue.
