Featured Replies

I would like to do some voluntary work.

Any chance to have a look at the women's prison?

That sounds as clever a letting the whole population travel wherever they please for Songkran......

  • What a bunch of bumbling idiots those prison authorities people, releasing 50 thousands criminals on the public because they were too  incompetent to mange the virus in the prison system...

release the murderers first.    that will help with the pandemic.

Considering the reality that 80% of the prison population are there for non-violent drug use -not dealing just use- then maybe banging people up for using substances that are scientifically proven to be less dangerous than alcohol, and yes, even *that* one is less dangerous than alcohol, if supplied and regulated like alcohol, because the Science and the Lancet say so; then the entire country would be a lot happier and healthier.

If 80% of the prison population are drug users, then the message is:

1. A lot of people like illicit drugs.

2. Jail doesnt seem to deter them much!

3. Stupid and inhumane laws = jail overcrowding that is now coming back to bite them on that part of their anatomy where the "authorities" seem to keep their brains.

Excellent reasoning and flies in the face of the knee jerk "how dumb is that" reactions.

Big concern is to contain the spread wherever these people go, but expect they can be monitored and controlled through communications and the health volunteers.

What would be great - if acknowledging these folk needn't be there, leads to enlightened changes in the law.  This being the case to some degree in many countries these days, and with positive outcomes.

Oh yeah, 50k potentially infected pre-symptomatic prisoners being sent all over the country will really help to do one thing - increase the COVID numbers.

Unless of course they're all isolation quarantined on the way out which is how a thinking man would implement such a mass release....what's the odds of that happening though?

Perhaps it's a way to make up for the slow vaccine roll out.

Release 50,000 people all probably with COVID, and all randy after being locked up for years ..... rapid inoculation of the general population- no need to buy vaccine.

The only way to reduce positive covid cases in prison is to release the prisoners, there now what's the next problem on the agenda today?

Prison clusters emerge as challenge to containing outbreak

So, they decide to spread the infection through out the country from one of the hottest covid infection centers?

Remember the cruise liners.

Difficult situation.

Just put them all on Koh Chang.....  it sounds empty and waiting... perfect solution.

Or Phuket

So I buy a Pumpgun????????????

Or do what Cuba did: let them out of prison and put them on boats bound for another country.

By all means. They should probably release a lot more from Thai prisons. People who haven't committed violent crimes, drug related crimes, etc. That would get rid of about half probably.

This would be a good time to reform the entire prison system. Build humane facilities, not the horrible torture chambers they have now.

BUT...for god sakes put any released prisoner in state quarantine for 14-21 days to make damn sure they don't spread more covid into the general population or this thing will get totally out of control.

Prisons should be made to be safe and pleasant places where everyone would be happy to go and spend some time, free from the stress and problems of every day life.

Releasing 50,000 prisoners would help resolve the overcrowding - but i expect they would need to release many more than that to have any impact on prison Covid-19 spread. And obviously, how will you prevent another 'Songkran' spreading event if you release them. And, of course no vaccine to spare.

Only solution i see is to send all the army conscripts home and use the barracks as isolation centres for the prisoners before release.

But maybe the conscripts are infected as well?

Well that should cut it down to only ten per cell then
