And in other odd news from Thailand on Tuesday, large numbers of Thai residents in the Ratchaburi province were spotted standing out in the streets and looking toward the sky with their mouths gaping wide open... though it wasn't clear exactly why...  ????

Guess Thai also dont know about area classification, you create a class zero area, highly explosive.

I dont think the drone has a EEXe classification and therefor the Thai were very lucky, the drone didnt ignite the area and itself.

What a useless futile attempt.

UV rays from sunlight kills the virus on surfaces, so the only chance for this to be effective is at night.

Rain purifies the air.

A 70% alcohol solution is needed to destroy the virus, but alcohol evaporates many times faster than the 30% water content in the mist discharged under the drone blades. So what alcohol content percentage remains after being blown around that actually lands on a virus to kill it?

It seems the solution to all mishaps (pollution, Covid etc..) is to load up drones and uselessly spray everything.  Some things just cant be sprayed away!

Very unfortunately Thailand suffers from the "looks great" syndrome. Not having an understanding of basics, all administrators and politicians jump onto the showiest solutions in the belief that they are using cutting-edge technology - therefore they must be trend setters.

The biggest laugh to date is the recent howling failure of the 'Mor Chana' android app, designed to facilitate the Thai-in-the-street to use their beloved phones to register for Covid jabs at hospitals.

Being senseless, the government overlooked coordinating with hospitals committees beforehand, resulting in an app which ran berserk, booking multiple 24-hour non-stop appointments (on a national basis) which had to be cancelled and changed by the hospitals while he app was still being used to book more appointment by the public.

Local hospital administrators quickly ignored the app, took things into their own hands, and used Google Forms and e-mail applications, phone calls and walk-ins, to sort things out simply and effectively.

There seems to be some kind of principle in Thailand that the higher you go in public service and the government, the less knowledge and understanding is required, merely a greater talent for PR, photo ops and being showy.

I think they are smart enough to know that they must spray 70% alcohol from the drone to have a good efficacy, COVID will be eradicated from the spayed area and they will all finally be safe  ????

Good idea,

Spray all of Thailand, covid gone, no need for vaccine,  open borders next day!!

SO as we all know and they are thus admitting alcohol kills the Covid 19 virus as it deos most viruses too.  Whereas I am an advocator of the Goverments sensible lockdown measures like wearing masks in public places and social disancing and indeed travel restictions with mandatory quarantine for ANYONE coming into the country (at least until we have had a 70% + vaccine rollout especiallyfor the most vulerable whatever theri nationality), the ban of selling alcohol in restaurants is absolutely pointless and does not help the economy either.  Having a beer or wine with your meal or inparticular a spirit as an after meal drink can only help kill off any viruses you may have unluckily ingested or got caught in your throat.  Also there is no way th evirus is moreinfectious after 9 PM eithr so why the early closures.

There are already firm sensibly lockdown laws about social distancing so that should be well enforced and thus limited the number of customers allowed in a restaurant/bar at any one time.  That surely ensures that serving alhohol or opening after 9 PM is not a problem as to spreading the pandemic.  Sure I support the argument that its maybe better to playsafe and have too much than too little lockdown but somethings are plan counter productive and in fact sadly alienate some folk to the idea of having any lockdown measures !!

Why does this not seem to make sense to the authorities implemening these lockdown laws ?? Does it make sense to you guys ?? if not why not ??

Airborne over a short distance inside a house. But definitely not out in the open air, where the virus will be diluted and harmless!

People catch the virus outside also. Not as easily, but they still do.

It's still being studied as to how far the droplets travel.

Why mess around with drones, crop spraying airplanes is what you need!

Why are they messing around with these Toys.

After all the Navy has some super-duper Swedish Drones brand new out of the Box they could use

The Thais lurch from a bad idea to a worse one. Whatever respect the world held them in last year I am sure is pretty much evaporated now, just like the alcohol sprayed by the drones.

They have hundred of thousand of stray dogs everywhere in Thailand

it's time to finally make them usefull and start to training them to it

They could even launch an ambitious national plan and affect 1 mototaxi to each dog as a caretaker with a small salary:

some money for the motosai guy, some food for the dog, friendship for both

and an useful task for all the Thai society, turning a permanent public threat

in an help to detect and fight the virus
