Extension Of Stay

Featured Replies

6. EXTENSION OF STAY

Those qualified persons can obtain an additional one year stay permit counting from the date of entry in the Kingdom pertaining to the Office of the Immigration Bureau's regulations on extension of stay. The extension of stay is at the discretion of the Immigration officer.

N.B. Applicants wishing to stay in the Kingdom longer than 90 days have to file their application either at the Thai consular mission aboard or at the Office of Immigration Bureau in Bangkok located on Soi Suan Plu, off South Sathorn Road,Bangkok 10120 , Tel 02 287-3101-10 (or website at (http://www.immgration.go.th ) . The consular officer must refer the case to the Office of Immigration Bureau for approval. Upon receiving approval, the consular officer may issue the visa as instructed by the Bureau

Can anyone clarify for me "what entry date is used"

eg:

12 month Non Immg multi entry Class O visa issued:

5 june 2006

entered Thailand 19 June 2006 (exit by 16 Sept 2006)

depart Thailand 14 Sept 2006

entered Thailand 27 Sept 2006 (exit by 25 Dec 2006)

depart Thailand 23 Dec 2006

entered Thailand 23 Dec 2006 (exit by 22 Mar 2007)

depart Thailand 20 Mar 2007

entered Thailand 20 Mar 2007 (exit by 17 Jun 2007)

Note official visa issued 5 Jun 2006 states enter before 4 Jun 2007

Todays date 22 May 2007 if i apply for an extension before 4 June 2007 is this (4 Jun 2007) then the date the extension applies from?

Other option being considered is depart Thailand eg. 3 Jun 2007 enter Thailand 3 Jun 2007 exit date would read 01 Sept 2007 (approx).

Now if I was to apply for an extension on say 15 August 2007 what entry date would be used??

Not wanting anything illegal just trying to clarify two things:

1. What enter into kingdom date is used when applying for an extension?

2. If I can go past enter Thailand before date and still apply for an extension?

The one year extension runs from the date of you latest entry into the Kingdom (20th of March 07 on your list).

If you do a border run before your visa expires then upon application for an extension it would be the date of the border run that is used.

EDIT The 'must enter before' date is just that, you will get a full 90 day permit to stay even if you enter the day before the 'must enter by' date. You can extend any permit to stay even the last one :o
