Thailand’s Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha explained today (Wednesday) to MPs, particularly those of the coalition Bhumjaithai Party, that he diverted Public Health Ministry funding, for the procurement and management of COVID-19 vaccines, to the Central Fund, which is under his direct supervision, for ease of use in emergency.

Addressing lawmakers on the last day of the three-day debate on the 3.1-trillion-baht public sector spending bill for the 2022 fiscal year, the prime minister said that nobody, himself included, knows when the fight against the contagion will be over and how much money will be needed claiming, therefore, that it was more appropriate to move the vaccine funding from the Public Health Ministry to the Central Fund.

He explained that the vaccine funding comes from two sources, borrowing and the Central Fund so, when there is an urgent need for more vaccines, money can be disbursed from either source.

This looks like quite the slap in the face for anutin/bjt.

Hopefully this will result in improvements in the procurement and administration of vaccines. <cough>

I hope they will use their brains and don't give all that power to such an incompetent man.. Better keep things separated

You mean the pm, or someone else?

The pm already has all the power, he's literally in charge of EVERYTHING. He heads every committee, is minister of defense, the police report directly to him, he has an emergency decree and the full backing of the insitution.

Since he is the Czar, is Anutin his Rasputin?

Don't give him all the money

I'm sure it can't possibly have anything to do with the reports that they had to be physically held apart by their aides at a recent meeting. Ah, the secrets of Thailand....
