BANGKOK (NNT) - The Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) reports that halal food from Thailand continues to gain trust worldwide, due to elevated COVID safety related production standards.

DITP Director-General Somdet Susomboon said the COVID-19 pandemic has consumers across the world worried about their health and well-being. In line with this trend, the DITP has launched many campaigns to boost the export potential of halal food produced in Thailand.

He said the DITP is fortifying safety measures in food manufacturing by launching COVID-19 prevention measures for manufacturers, exporters, businesses, raw-material suppliers and logistics operators, with which they must strictly comply.

Mr. Somdet added that the DITP continues working on boosting confidence among its trade partners, through the “Thailand Delivers with Safety Campaign,” aiming to build trust among buyers and trade partners worldwide, and reinforcing Thailand’s potential as a major food manufacturer with advanced manufacturing technology that meets international standards.

Funny how the image doesn't include any meat products to remind people of the brutal way that animals are slaughtered according to shariah.

Money making racket for the people behind the certification. Talks about food but not much in the pic, how can shampoo and rice not be halal?

Shampoo often contains gelatin, of which pork is the most common source.

Don't know about rice, probably if it has been stored in facilities that also process haram food products.

Halal food should be banned worldwide. Where are Greenpeace and all these so called activist right now. Oh, I forgot these leftist people are the same who protect the religion of peace worldwide with their political allies.

You don't want to eat pork, ok, you don't eat meat ok, you are Vegetarian ok but don't use the freedom of religion as a backdoor to avoid existing animal protection laws.

But is it  Kosher?

They originate from the same area and they have things in common but both parties will deny that when you ask them.  Both Jews and islamist are a kind of protected specie in many countries. One protected by the left the other one protected by the right.  They both use the same tactic and freedom of religion to avoid existing laws.

I avoid both halal and kosher meat when I can.  Those slaughtering practices had a real purpose in hot countries prior to refrigeration being widely available.  The elders enshrined them in religious law because, people, being people, man-made laws could be ignored.  In this day and age, apart from poor people in the heat, they are just animal cruelty for no valid reason and should be banned.

My bottle of Fish Sauce bears the Halal logo. It must take ages to cut the throats of the thousands of anchovies that go to make up the product.

Particularly when they have to have their heads pointing towards Mecca (specifically the kaaba) when the throat is cut, and the butcher has to recite a prayer dedicating each anchovy to Islam's god.  Oh, and it's forbidden for one anchovy to witness the slaughter of another anchovy.

In all seriousness, though, the rules of brutal slaughter in Islam apparently don't apply to fish.
