Ginkas
Renewed my passport via VFS in March. Booked appointment, no problems, documents checked and details noted, in and out in 20 minutes. Collected passport 4 weeks later, in and out in 5 minutes.

Ginkas
All details on the HMPO site where you make the application. From there contacted VFS via HMPO.CM@vfs helpline.com which, if I remember correctly, was given on the passport website. Costs as shown on the website and paid by credit card to HMPO, nothing extra to be paid to VFS itself, all payments to HMPO. Received an email and phone call when the passport arrived.
bluweyze
Yes used them twice (for others) The only problem is the price. Easy as it can be. The passport holder does not even have to attend BUT YOU MUST MAKE AN APPOINTMENT and it is a small window.
