webfact
By Tanakorn Sangiam BANGKOK (NNT) - The police and military have increased their security measures at workers’ camps in Bangkok, ensuring these camps where many COVID-19 cases have recently been reported are completely sealed off from the outside. Security agencies launched the ‘sealing’ operation at construction camps in Bangkok today, essentially preventing any unauthorized persons entering or leaving these workers’ camps, where several new cases of COVID-19 have recently been reported. The National Security Council Secretary General Gen Natthapon Nakpanich, said today the measure is necessary, despite the public panic it may cause, as workers from sites where transmissions have been reported are still found to be relocating to other locations. With the more stringent measures in place, police officers, soldiers, and city law enforcement officers will be mobilized to workers camp as requested by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, with around 4-5 officers stationed at each camp. The NSC still needs to discuss the matter further to see how many construction camps require this measure. The NSC secretary general said measures will gradually be intensified, and will be relaxed once the situation improves, while related authorities will be cautious about the economic impact caused. The Chief of Defence Forces Gen Chalermpol Srisawat said military units are ready to mobilize its personnel to support this operation in Bangkok, depending on guidelines provided by the Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration. The military will need to assess each location first to determine the extent of the area needing to be secured, with an option for barbed wire to be placed if necessary to completely seal off the area. Generally, officers will be stationed at the entry-exit checkpoints of each location, with regular patrols conducted to detect any attempt to escape. Police officers will be the key respondent in this operation, with military officers serving as a supporting force. The military chief said more military officers can be mobilized to support the operation camps if necessary, should more construction camps need to be sealed off. -- © Copyright NNT 2021-06-11 - Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are here for you - Follow Thaivisa on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates

Are they like transient people, spreading it from one camp to another? I guess that would explain how it appears in so many places with Burmese or other foreign workers. Surely this is some kind of violation of human rights they are not prisoners?? Hopefully they don't lock the ones with COVID up inside with them? Not to say those worker camps are perfect breading grounds for the Virus. This is the kind of stuff that happens when you put soldiers in charge of a country I'm afraid. 5

It is more likely to be the people that service these Camps. The Guys with the Motocy stacked 2 Meters wide with fresh veggies, the people selling snacks, and fresh ready to eat food, Burmese Style Etc. These people rely upon the Camps for a living, and travel from one to another selling their goods.
