There seems to be plenty of "deaf" drivers here who appear to be completely oblivious to an ambulance siren blaring out directly behind them!

In contrary to that, deaf drivers are more viligant than hearing drivers.

I'm not posting funny comment on deaf people who drives... however, blind people who drives will be another matter...

Apparently they get a 20% discount on every pick-up purchase

how deaf driver could get a license?

Automatic response:

does it need a license to drive in Thailand?

Serious answer:

I don't know whether there are exceptions for certain disabilities.

The physical test do not include any audio stuff.

The theoretical test is a multiple choice on a computer.

But the "tutoring" and watching videos would require hearing.

Sure the deaf driver was more safe than some of the full senses motorbike taxis I've used

At least he wouldn't be distracted by being on the phone like most other drivers.

I feel sorry for the deaf driver, already disabled and now maybe further damage that will follow him for the rest of his life. Probably no insurance will pay for this.   But that is the dangers on the roads here, you have to be willing to take risks.
