Representatives from the ferry company that transports visitors to Koh Samui and Air Asia were optimistic about the return of both foreign tourists and domestic tourism in the coming months.

Managing director of Raja Ferry Apichart Chayophas was upbeat in an interview with Money and Banking expressing optimism about the return of foreign tourists especially to the Full Moon Party in Koh Phangan.

He reported "high demand" for foreign tourists in the fourth quarter though offered little concrete evidence of that assertion.

He said he was working on promotions and deals with logistics companies and airlines for deliveries.

He said that Terminals 4 and 5 at Donsak on the mainland would be ready in the fourth quarter (October to December) and passenger capacity would increase from 6,000 a day to 12-15,000 per day.

Meanwhile Air Asia's Kris Patanasan said that 80% of the airline's staff had been vaccinated ahead of the Phuket Sandbox start.

He too expressed optimism about the return of Thai domestic tourism in particular.

He said that the airline would be offering 20-30% more flights internally in July than they were at the end of 2020.

There would be three flights daily from Don Mueang to Phuket and one each Friday, Wednesday and Sunday from Suvarnabhumi to Phuket.
