Swedish Embassy in Cambodia to close in December, opens section office

Featured Replies

The Swedish Embassy in Cambodia will officially close its office here in December. The Swedish Ambassador to Cambodia, Björn Häggmark conveyed this news to Minister of Interior Sar Kheng during a meeting on June 30.

However, the current embassy will be transformed into a section office of the Embassy of Sweden in Bangkok. The change of Sweden’s presence is part of a continued adaptation of Sweden’s Foreign Service to global challenges and new demands including efficiency.

The decentralisation, he said, is done with the aim to enhance service delivery, accountability and participation at local levels.
