Tetanus and Diptheria Vaccinations May provide protection from severe covid symptoms

Featured Replies

There is some evidence that a previous tetanus and diptheria vaccination can mitigate the effects of covid-19. And it's a good idea to get the vaccinations in any case if you haven't been re-inoculated in the past 10 years.

Prior vaccination against diphtheria and tetanus associated with less severe COVID-19

t has been suggested that prior vaccination for other pathogens, especially tetanus, may provide protection against severe COVID-19. To identify factors that moderate SARS-CoV-2’s pathogenic effects, Jennifer Monereo-Sánchez et al., in a recent study, tested if vaccinating against other pathogens protects individuals against severe COVID-19.

The researchers found that individuals with registered diphtheria or tetanus vaccinations were less likely to develop severe COVID-19 than people who had only received other vaccinations.

in thailand there is DP vax, but not much more expensive are DTaP (protects against diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis) or even better the one with with polio. I had the last one for 800b at mahidol travel clinic. They protect for 10 years.

At the same time I had meningococcal for 2500b.

Since end of february I had also influenza A, MMR, Pneumococcal, Hepatitis A, Typhoid, Zostavax at total 13k.

All vax will bost immune system.

I am after tuberculosis, if anybody knows where to get it. I had my in europe 7 years ago, so time for a booster, but in thailand it's not offered for adults at all

I read there were a few studies done on the TB vaccine and it turned out it was only possibly useful if you were vaccinated with it as a child.

yes, I had TB in childhood.

thai, and some others in SE Asia might be resilient to covid, because they all had TB. In thailand this vax is still being done to kids, but apparently not possible for adults. Adults in a risk group suppose to have it every 10 years. Suppose to be not that effective, but even if partially protects even for short time, still gives some better chances surviving covid
