Yeah, they are great dogs, very very smart, but unfortunately can be very aggressive and temperamental, mine is showing signs, so off to Nienke we go, actually, I'm sure it's more my fault that my dog, hence me finding someone that can speak English, so I can understand what I'm doing wrong etc etc.

End of the day, I don't want to be a bad owner, if my dog hurt somebody or an animal because I didn't train him, well, don't want to think about that.

He's laying by the side of my chair as I type, with the fan blowing on both of us :o

Sorry if this is a hijack - but i have a very similar problem. In my soi, just opposite my house, is a small townhouse rented by chinese students. They keep 5 dogs caged 24/7 in a small area of about 3 squared metres. The noise in unimaginable and i've had words a few times. However, recently, their alsation has broken down their front gate, escaped, and has attacked two seperate dogs on two seperate occasions. The owners just don't care, even when being yelled at, they think its a funny situation.

I called to cops for some advice - I may kill the dog in the street without legal recourse.

So I told them quite simply, if their dog escapes again, thereby posing a danger to my family, I will kill it.

Must admit it worked, coz they fixed that gate up in no time at all.

Really, I love dogs, but what else can I do? Nobody in my moobahn seems to care, even parents of small children (who saw one of the attacks) don't say anything. You see, this is what really gets to me about this mess, some child will have to get hurt first before anything is done. All the signs are there, it's simply a matter of time.

When I read these stories, I'm always so much aware of how much 'no or avoiding confrontation' is important in Thai society, 'keep the atmosphere in the neighborhood good' is their motto.

For many foreigners this is very difficult as we look (often) ahead and can see where certain things can lead to. On the other hand, 'we' tend to speculate a lot as well.

I always think there is so much to say about both approaches. There MUST be a way to make a good combination and keep all parties happy. But ... unfortunatley, I haven't found this way yet.

If anyone has ideas, please let me know. Maybe open a new thread on this subject.

Smart is the key word there, with the right owner they make wonderful working dogs, pets and companions.

h90, I hate talking about dogs fighting, but no, they're not bad on dogs half their weight but they were never bred for fighting. A pair of bull terriers would have killed my dog, and probably me with it, in seconds.
