Featured Replies

In almost four months, COVID-19 has claimed a total of 1,106 lives throughout the country. The first death was reported on 11 March 2021, a Cambodian man, 50, died at 10:40 a.m. from chronic lung disease in Phnom Penh. He was confirmed to be exposed to his employer on 28 February. This occurrence marked the country’s first death of COVID-19 and was linked to the still raging effects of the February 20 Community Event.

According to the U.S. CDC, all cases sequenced in the February 20 Community Event Outbreak were infected by a British variant, Lineage B.1.1.7 and was believed to have started from an infected airline passenger who left quarantine without authorisation on the night of February 8 from Sokha Hotel.

Due to scarcity of information from the Ministry of Information, it is quite impossible to determine as to how many deaths has occurred in the various provinces through Phnom Penh seems to be leading in this aspect of fatalities, along with the greatest number of cases detected in the country.
