unblocktheplanet
While high-level govt bureaucrats & ministers were enjoying the superspreaders at Govt House Krystal Klub, they then went home to bring happiness to the Thai people. This directly resulted in Thailand’s Covid-19 wave number four, actually a brand-new pandemic, replacing the Alpha (UK) strain with the even-more-transmissible & deadly Delta (Indian) strain. These govt officials are responsible for 400,000+ infections so far, resulting in hospitalisation, often in ICU and on ventilators. This govt murdered more than 3,000 Thais and caused at least a trillion baht in direct costs plus indirect damage to Thailand’s economy & int’l reputation. We know exactly who they are. Three main actors in Laos led to their second wave. Here’s how they handle such selfish & irresponsible behaviour in Laos: https://laotiantimes.com/2021/07/15/april-super-spreader-tyna-receives-court-sentence-in-laos/. Convict #1: Three years, seven months & 15 days, B100,000 fine Convict #2: Five years, on month & 15 days, B200,000 fine Convict #3: Three years, seven months & 15 days, B100,000 fine A police captain got three years, seven months & 15 days with a B100,000 fine plus dismissal for aiding the illegal entry of two Thai nationals. Their two boat drivers were each sentenced to one year, seven months & 15 days with a B90,000 fine. Thai govt protects its own elite criminals. Bought & paid-for courts render the ‘right’ verdicts. These criminals should be rotting in jail not some kids in a demonstration.

impulse
Be careful what you wish for. Not hard to imagine some relatively innocent actions leading to loooong prison sentences.
Popular Post Heng
Not to mention, there were some clubs and massage parlours along the entire economic spectrum open at that time. I'm not in that Krystal 'level,' somewhere in the middle more like, and I was having a good time too. No different than people letting their guards down in the UK and US right now (the US/UK version is simply: we're mostly vaccinated, let's unmask and be free..... the Thai feeling at that time was: our numbers are low and we're bored, let's party a bit). A lot of people helped to produce this current wave, not just the folks with power. Edited July 21, 2021 by Heng 2 2
dennnis
Do you have have some link that delta strain is more deadly than alpha? It is other way around.

It spreads much more easily, according to https://www.dw.com/en/fact-check-what-do-we-know-about-the-coronavirus-delta-variant/a-57949754, but there doesn't seem to be much data on deadliness around yet. One aspect is that in GB (for one), the vaccination rate is high, which helps avoid more severe infections.

Delta is significantly worse causing 85% more hospitalizations than UK-Alpha. Alpha was 59% more deadly than the Wuhan strain. Other factors may affect numbers, these are best estimates. Discussed here: Wikipedia Variants of SARS-CoV-2. New UK Delta data may be misleading because far more young people are becoming infected and the Delta outbreak is new. When new infections are rising rapidly, fatality rates lag behind.
Paradise Pete
Delta is clearly much more transmissible than earlier variants. It's too early to measure the deadliness of it. As pointed out here already, measuring that is a more difficult task. There's of course significant evolutionary pressure for more transmissible variants to arise. There's no pressure one way or the other on deadliness, because transmission happens early in the infection, before a person might or might not die. At this point it's no longer a question of if a person will be exposed, but rather when. Sooner or later every person will be accidentally exposed. Then the question is how prepared is the immune system of that person. Their immune system will be tested. Getting vaccinated is like studying for that test.
