The Thai government is to issue a decree to limit the legal exposure of medical personnel in litigation brought by COVID-19 patients or their relatives seeking compensation for loss of life or other damage caused to patients in the course of treatment.

Defending the decree, which is now being drafted, Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said today that the purpose is to enable medics to treat COVID-19 to the full extent of their capabilities, without worrying that they may be sued.

He maintained, however, that the scope of legal protection for medical staff would be confined to good faith actions, not gross negligence or prejudice.

The devil is always in the detail.

Does the description 'medics' include Pinoccio and his cohorts?

Yes they did a 30 minute first aid course and graduated as medics. 55

are there other countries that do similar protection for their medics?

I didn't think so...

this smells...

The reason why Anutin wears his white jacket with the badge on is not because he IS a health professional but so that he is dressed as a health professional and qualifies for limited liability:

Ah, so that is why Anutin affects a "doctors shirt"!

Sure beats 6 years studying!

So Anutin is preparing for the consequences if the Government falls..... Don't accept this law

this law to protect medics and just a cover and back door, to get amnesty for the government goons who botched vax program.

In that packaged, sweetened form, they have chance to push it through, avoiding popular back clash.

the secondary reason are court cases, when patients were left at homes to die, without giving even basic covid help (and this is happening already for several months across the country)
