The authorities did not specify when the decision will come into force

BANGKOK, August 18. /TASS/. Thai authorities will allow Russian citizens who have a certificate showing vaccination with Sputnik V, to visit the country’s resorts as part of the eased entry regulation, the Russian embassy in the Kingdom of Thailand said in a statement on Wednesday.

"The national committee on tackling COVID-19 has principally approved putting Sputnik V on the list of vaccines that provide the right to arrive in Thailand under the ‘sandbox’ program with certificates present," the statement said.

The authorities did not specify when the decision will come into force.

the right to arrive

That was something new.

It would be out of the frying pan and into the fire for the Russkies, their Covid cases are running at 20,000 a day also. :crying:

But Russia's population is 146 millions, so compared to Thailand's 70 million it's equivalent to half, i.e. 10,000 new cases per day.

Sputnik is not even approved by WHO yet (as of Jul 7th) yet.

The Thai government did the same with Sinovac.  They made their own choice before results were in and meaningful "peer reviews" were done.

This Sputnik vaccine sounded very interesting when I read about it due to the way it works.

I would however like to see some data on it - this data didn't appear to be available at the time.

I guess it will be a reason for some Russians finally to take sputnik. Maybe even a better reason than the drawing of 100,000 rubles among the vaccinated ????

Ask Argentina how it's going with Sputnik V since they started using it heavily well over half a year ago. It desperately wants to finish full vaccination but cannot as it has been waiting for 7 months for Sputnik V second dose to show up, which is a different type from the first dose. The Russian manufacturer is having trouble with quality output.

Argentina has been forced to switch vaccines -- Moderna and AstraZeneca -- for second doses.

From BBC in late July:

In Argentina, an email from one of President Alberto Fernandez's advisers to Russia's RDIF said that as of 7 July, Argentina was still waiting for 5.5 million first doses and 13.1 million second doses of Sputnik V. "At this point the entire contract is at risk of being cancelled," the email obtained by Argentine media said.

If I am reading this correctly, " Countries resorts " means a completely open House for them, and not a visit to the infamous sandbox

Sputnik is a vector-based vaccine, just like AZ and J&J. This link HERE compares all the available Covid-vaccines...????

Well that's hardly surprising news.

Two shots of Vodka comrade and your in.

Thailand is desperate to squeeze in a few tourists any way possible regardless of consequences.

Can't be any worse than the Sinovac Phuket residents were vaccinated with a few months back in fairness.

It said it pretty clearly in the OP.

But this isn't about Thailand buying Sinovac, is it?

Really? Phuket's mortality rate is running far below most other provinces. Despite the fact that it's far more open.

Westerners didn't take the bait of hilarious Sandbox rules. Next try is Russians until the CCP lets their bats fly out again.

surely it depends on the number of vaccine doses Russia has "donated" to Thailand??

Can you provide any evidence that Russia has donated any Sputnik vaccine to Thailand? Or, for that matter, that the manufacturer has sold any to Thailand?

When they get motivated, things do happen fast. Too bad that sense of urgency wasn't around earlier in the year when they had that holdup on approving vaccines for the Thai market.

do you always answer a question with a question??

As for evidence... try this - it is as reliable as any other news report in Thailand.......
