Thailand’s Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) will seek approval from the Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) for its plan to screen up to 200,000 people living in and around markets in COVID-19 “dark red” provinces using rapid antigen test kits (ATKs).

 

Deputy Government Spokesperson Dr. Traisulee Traisoranakul said today that the MoPH is working on the mass screening after it learned that 14,678 people, found to be infected with COVID-19 between April 1st and August 10th, were all related to 132 wet and flea markets in 23 provinces now classified as “dark red” zones.

 

According to the plan, the mass screenings will focus on vendors and their employees who enter and exit the markets on daily basis, customers and residents living around the markets.

And what will they do if they find 25 -50,000 infected people?

suddenly there is huge focus and interest on limited mass testing, what changed ?

 

Why did they not increase PCR testing capacity ?

 

me thinks someone is pocketing some dosh from these kits and wants them used up fast so they can get another order in  

 

were there's a budget they can fudget

They always were the Achilles heel, in my neck of the woods social distancing, face masks, cleanliness all went of of the window, the usual morning elbow to elbow madness to buy daily supplies continued unabated in the usual Thai style.

My Thai son, his wife nd 3 kids live in Chiang Mai. They turn up for coffee and son has to regularly say to neighbors 'please don't visit us'.

 

Same with outer circle relatives, from, Bkk, Tak, Suko Thai, Chonburi. All of they call to say they are coming to CM for the week-end etc., to 'help look after the children' (who don't need looking after).

 

The family outspoken ignorant ladyboy (lives in Bkk) has turned up at son's house with 4 or 5 friends from Chiang Mai, announcing that they will do a BBQ in son's garden. 

 

(He has some form of pass from his gov't job and uses it to get past check points along with a car load of his buddies all packed into a car, no masks and no distancing).

 

Son has told him several times 'NO, you cannot come to my house, we have to maintain distancing, you should stay at your apartment in Bkk'.

 

Son is now labelled as hating his in-laws and a trouble maker. Part of this situation is that they believe you can't catch Covid 19 from other family members.

Good if they think your son hates them, they wont come again, same as you tell family you have no money for them they stop talking to you, win win.
