Good Builders In Cm?

Featured Replies

Does anyone know of any good builders in CM? Someone that you have had a positive experience with in regards to quality of work AND price. The proposed work would be on a small condo.

Cheers

What kind of work do you want to have done? Cabinets? Walls? Plumbing? Windows? Electrical? Do you speak Thai well enough to work with a non-English speaking contractor?

Not sure if she speaks English but we're in contact with a interior designer/decorator who also supervises the work. She's brilliant and really checks that it's done right. Don't have her contact details here. We've used her for office design before and are now hiring her to do the bathroom & kids play room in our house. It works out nice because she has the good ideas in terms of style, and the team is good enough for the heavier work involving moving/building plumbing, electrical and the like.

I can find her contact details if anyone's interested.. No clue if she speaks English though, I can ask. :o

The work is in a small studio condo. It needs to be gutted of the old hardwood, and the tub, toilet, and sink removed. Then new wiring laid out for lights and new plug outlets, plumbing for water on the terrace, plumbing for washing machine in bathroom. Then custom built cabinets from floor to wall with indirect lights on top. Also looking to do the countertops and desk all out of polished concrete but this I am a little leery of as I am not sure it can be done here. The contractor that gave a quote said yes, he can do it, but from what I understand they want to build it out of bricks and just coat the bricks with plaster the way that they do all the other buildings here. Not what I was looking for. Also there is going to be some custom work with aluminum in the form of a loft bed, but I am working to find a fab shop that can do the work.

I already have professional drawings done up of what I want, also my own sketch up drawings to give a better idea of what I am looking for.

Ideally I would like to find a general contractor that can manage the crews and ensure that a level of quality is maintained. This person English does not have to be perfect as my Thai is minimal but I do have Thai friends that can be with me to translate should I need them too.

Looking for good quality without paying through the nose, if that’s possible here. Working with the architect/designer right now but I feel I am getting creamed cause I am farung. The price quotes seem really off.

Any numbers and names that you can PM will be much appreciated.

Best,

So...are there no good builders in CM, or just none that people have had a positive experience with?

Or maybe, the good ones are such a hot commodity that their names and numbers are being guarded with extreme predation as to not loose the asset in question. :o

Normally carpenters do just the wooden bits. I have yet to find anyone who could do all these things. You might be able to get 1 person to handle elec and plumbing. But definitely get a carpenter to fit out the cabinets etc. All the places I have seen built have someone to come in at the end for wooden fixtures and that is all they do.

In my house when things need fixing, husband does electrics and I do plumbing - neither of us too good on the carpentry unfortunately :o
