Rival Thai politicians and their supporters are gambling on how the country’s COVID-19 situation will pan out in the immediate future. If it gets worse significantly or improves remarkably, nothing else matters. Not even their stances on the Constitution. Not even the “ideologies” they advocate. Not even what happens in Parliament this week.

Parks, malls and eateries gradually reopening on first day of eased restrictions

A semblance of normality has started to return in Bangkok’s two popular public parks, Lumpini and Rodfai (railway), in beauty salons and barber’s shops as well as eateries inside and outside malls, although the number of customers is still small.

Hua Hin restaurants reopen, no vaccinations needed

Shopping malls and restaurants in Hua Hin are allowed to reopen from today (Sept 1) in accordance with the Thai governments easing of COVID-19 restrictions.

Eighteen arrested for holding illegal birthday party in Pattaya area, small amount of drugs reportedly found as well

Police raided a birthday party late last night, August 31st, arresting a total of eighteen suspects. The man celebrating his birthday claimed he was “immune” from Covid-19 as he had previously had the disease, stating he should be able to celebrate his birthday due to this “fact.”

Thai Foreign Ministry Procures COVID-19 Vaccines from Partner Countries

Thailand Will Meet Rice Export Target from Weakening Baht

BANGKOK (NNT) - The Thai Rice Exporters Association expects the weakening baht to help Thailand meet its target of exporting 6 million tons of rice this year, though it only shipped 2.59 million tons in the first seven months.

Electricity outages to affect Cherng Talay, Koh Kaew

PHUKET: Local branches of the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) have announced that the electricity supply will be temporarily shut off in parts of Cherng Talay as well as Koh Kaew, including Koh Maphrao, tomorrow (Sept 2) as work is carried out on installing new high-voltage cables.

Thailand’s private sector tells government – ‘No more lockdown restrictions’

The joint committee of Thailand’s three private sector organizations has told the government not to re-impose lockdown restrictions, but to accelerate vaccinations to cover 70% of the country’s population before the full reopening of the borders to foreign arrivals.
