The European Union (EU) is funding the project RECOVER to assist unemployment in the Tonle Sap region, which was dramatically affected by the Covid-19 Delta variant. RECOVER is a three-year project that will end in January 2023 and aims to help more than 28,000 people by providing them with work or helping them to create their own agriculture-related businesses.

The aim is to contribute to an inclusive economic recovery in the Tonle Sap region. There are two critical aspects through which the project aims to achieve this goal. The first is to increase net income from sales from poultry value chains and horticulture for household members, including laid-off and migrant workers.

The second is to assist them by creating job opportunities. It plans to achieve these goals by improving extension services, supporting stakeholders to access business development, supporting stakeholders in their market analysis and business engagement and linking stakeholders with sources of capital. The programme is led by three international civil society organisations (CSOs): DanchurchAid (DCA), People In Need (PIN) and Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO).
