lelapin
I have installed a switcher to work between my laptop and TV. It works fine manually but when I use the remote it doesn't switch and nothing happens. Any ideas? eas. Crossy
Some of the low cost remotes are very (very, very) directional. Try with the remote next to the sensor. Also check the remote is transmitting by pointing it at your phone camera, you should see the IR LED flickering when you press a button.
DanWill
Why would a TV remote control an external switcher box? Unless you are switching TV input sources from say HDM1 (Laptop) to HDMI2 (Set top box) on the actual TV. I may be 80 but I am not completely stupid.

I tried your suggestions and nothing so although it was a new switcher I changed the battery that it had come with and hey presto - all working.

By the way, I got a suspension for using the word 'stupid' about someone. But of course, you are saying 'not stupid' LOL So you are switching between Laptop into your telly, and TV box into it. Are there not two HDMI inputs on your telly? Easy if there were. Edited September 4, 2021 by DanWill
