Border police in Nakhon Phanom in Thailand's north eastern region announced the arrest of a 31 year old female Som Tam (papaya salad) seller with 4.6 million Ya Ba (meth amphetamine mixed with caffeine).

The drugs had been imported across the Mekong River by a gang that paid her 400,000 baht for onward transport.

She said that she needed money for her children after she lost her work during the pandemic and her husband was jailed.

Laddawan  Chaiyawong said she'd done it before and it went well so she decide to try again.

Thai Rath said she was a pretty and presentable woman from Kutchim sub-district of Nakhon Phanom.

Taken into evidence was an Isuzu pick-up and 4,622,000 pils.

Her husband was in jail for 8 years on a drugs case. She was a Ya ba addict.

She has two sons aged 3 and 14.

Last month she got 200,000 baht for transporting a consignment so she decided to go again.

Big mistake... got greedy, now the kids are gonna have a tough time while you and hubby are banged up.

Wonder how a consignment that size gets to be sneaked across the river?

Sad days for the kids. Who's taking all this yaba in Thailand and for what? Do rural farmers need it to work? Is it used for weight loss by women? Are truckers using it? Sure is a hell of a lot of pills in this haul and still there are so many others caught each day.
