Thief killed by security guard in botched Phnom Penh gas station robbery

A thief was killed by a security guard – who also sustained serious injuries – at a gas station in central Phnom Penh early this morning, after he attempted to rob the location. The incident happened at around 4am this morning at the Depot Tela gas station on Street 217 in Khan Dangkor, Phnom Penh.

 

The thief has entered the gas station office and attempted to steal items, when he was apprehended by the guard. A scuffle broke out, in the course of which, the thief was stabbed by the security guard in the throat.

 

The security guard also received serious injuries in the fight. The 40 year old thief then attempted to flee but collapsed and died after running for 100 yards to the courtyard of Koi Coffee.
