BANGKOK (NNT) - As online shopping has become the preferred choice among more people, Thailand’s EXIM Bank and SME D Bank have arranged an online seminar encouraging entrepreneurs to utilize digital technology for their business transformation.

The Export-Import Bank of Thailand (EXIM Bank) and the SME Development Bank (SME D Bank) held the online seminar on the topic of digital transformation for businesses, encouraging entrepreneurs to adapt to the more digital-dependent consumer behavior.

Mr Rak Vorrakitpokatorn, President of the EXIM Bank, said today that the COVID-19 pandemic caused global GDP to shrink by 3.2% last year, in line with the decreasing value of trade and goods globally.

Despite this decline, the world’s online trading market has shown a 20% increase from 3.4 trillion dollars US in 2019 to 4.2 trillion in 2021.

Me Rak said digital technologies have helped businesses during the decline, and helped accelerate growth during the recovery, as more customers are now embracing online shopping.

The EXIM Bank has pledged to support small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Thailand with technology, knowhow, capital, and risk management tools, as SMEs make up 30% of the national GDP, hiring more than 12 million workers in total.
