webfact
By Tanakorn Sangiam BANGKOK (NNT) - The Prime Minister of Thailand has expressed his vision for post-pandemic economic recovery at this year’s China-ASEAN Expo, together with leaders of other ASEAN countries and China in a video conference. Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha today delivered his remarks on post-pandemic economic recovery in a video conference for the opening ceremony of the 18th China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) held in Nanning, China. On this occasion, the Prime Minister spoke admiringly about and congratulated the Chinese government for holding the China-ASEAN Expo every year, providing opportunities for all sectors to extend their cooperation to reach concrete outcomes. In his speech, the Thai PM expressed his vision for a comprehensive partnership between ASEAN and China in the next decade, focusing on public health security, long-term economic recovery and strengthening, and sustainability. The vision in the decade of public health security is aimed at helping populations live with the presence of COVID-19, along with the promotion of safe and efficacious vaccine and antiviral developments, as well as the establishment of vaccine manufacturing and distribution centers in ASEAN countries. Over the decade of long-term economic recovery and strengthening, Thailand has pledged to support the enhancement of the ASEAN-China Free Trade Agreement and the ratification of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), together with the promotion of a digital economy to help enhance the capabilities of entrepreneurs, especially the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and startups, providing them with better access to capital, markets, and technologies. In the decade of sustainability, the Thai PM stressed the promotion of sustainability in all respects to address various threats including the pandemic. The Thai PM said ASEAN and China have named the years 2021 and 2022 as the years of sustainable development and cooperation. As ASEAN’s coordinator for sustainable development, Thailand has emphasized its objectives and preparedness to push forward ASEAN-China cooperation on this matter, especially the eradication of poverty and hunger, as well as new cooperation on the Bio-Circular-Green economy model. The 18th China-ASEAN Expo is taking place in Nanning, China on 10-13 September. -- © Copyright NNT 2021-09-11 - Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are here for you - Follow ASEAN NOW on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates

Popular Post Gold Star
Another clear sign of which side this government is on and cuddling up to. One reason the ASEAN countries exist as a group is to stand together to avoid being singled out and be bullied by China. This event must be like a NATO meeting hosted by Moscow.

Popular Post ezzra
Thailand putting their hopes of recovery trough China, they should look and learn what China is doing to Australia now and it bullying and strong-arms Australia's exports into china by either boycotting many products and accusing Australia in all sorts of baseless accessions that only a staunch die-hard communist country can do...

zzaa09
They really are beyond angst about this faux recovery. The elite must be feeling the pinch, as any such "recovery" won't benefit the respective populations.

I will resign. I now realize I am holding the nation back, and I admit to totally blowing the vaccine effort, not seeing this coming, and being completely unprepared. The Thai people do not deserve the destruction, sabotage and willful neglect I have saddled them with. 2. Phiphat will resign too. He is in way over his head, and the revival of tourism is just too important. We need someone with experience. We admit he was a bad choice. 3. Anutin will hand in his resignation. Officials from all over the world have advised us we actually need someone with a background in health and medicine to deal with a pandemic emergency. This never occurred to us. It came as a big surprise to hear this advise. Expertise? Makes sense. Why didn't we think of that? 4. We may actually decide to start fighting corruption. I know I promised this 7 very long years ago, but I mean it now. We simply have too much egg on our faces, and the world has been laughing at us. We cannot allow ourselves to be the laughing stock of the world, with heroin dealers in positions of leadership, and serial killing cops in top positions. Even I consider that to be a bit much, and you would not believe the things I have witnessed.

newnative
Apparently the word 'concrete' was mentioned but, as always, nothing concrete laid out in regard to actually doing anything. Just more meaningless catch words bandied about.
Stargeezr
Hey Mike, I was wondering about this General PM, and how he came to power? Who is the top of all the military departments, Airforce, Navy, Army, etc. ? The un mentionables. I think the answer is maybe why the military is back in power, or are at least leaders of the present form of government. Just my thoughts as an outsider. It is understandable to see this China ASEAN expo as the countries are neighbors, and when China finally get COVID under control, they may even let some of their population visit places like Thailand again. DonniePeverley
The plan? Simply sell everything to China in exchange for power. In 10 years time Thailand will be wall to wall condos for Chinese business men.
