People who received two doses of the Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine between March and May this year will be the first eligible for AstraZeneca booster shots, starting next Friday (September 24th). Those who received the Sinopharm vaccine will be next, according to Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul.

The move is part of the government’s plan to inoculate those who received two doses of inactivated virus vaccines, such as Sinovac and Sinopharm, with booster shots. Many medics have already received their third shots.

September 24th is Prince Mahidol Day, which commemorates the contributions to Thai medicine and medical education made by late King Bhumibol’s father.

so only 20% of the population have got 2 shots and you are now having to give most them a 3rd shot - amazing

Really hard to understand this level of ineptitude!

They have been shown by the rest of the world how to run a vaccination  programme but have still managed to get it completely and utterly wrong

They have been shown time and again what works, what doesn't work and what's a complete waste of time

The idiots in charge have repeatedly shown they ain't fit to run a bath let alone a pandemic it would be hilarious if it wasn't so serious, <deleted> muppets...

But I thought there was nothing wrong with the Sino shots?

The consensus is that they're less effective but far from ineffective. Countries like Brazil that benefited from Sinovac's vaccine are no longer ordering it but moving to mRNA vaccines. Thailand badly botched its vaccination program by ordering only 3 million AZ doses per month when it could have had 10 million. Not only is the AZ vaccine more effective, but it is also far cheaper. Doses of the Sinovac vaccine range can cost as much as $17 per dose. AZ vaccine costs at most $4 per dose.
