INN reported that the head of the committee investigating charges against Thitisan Uthanaphon or Joe Ferrari had gone to Klong Prem prison to formally accuse him and six of his men with gross dereliction of duty.

The group currently being held in jail ahead of criminal prosecution for murder have 15 days to answer the disciplinary charges.

Head of the investigative team Lt-Col Sarawut Kanphanich said that the committee had looked at the video evidence, spoken to witnesses and taken hospital evidence into consideration.

For many people this appears an open and shut case, suggests ASEAN NOW, though some fear that the police might somehow get off.

It has already been admitted and shown in a video that a drug suspect's head was wrapped in multiple layers of plastic resulting in the 24 year old's death during interrogation at Nakhon Sawan police station in early August.

Imagine, had a camera not been left running..... all this would be naught bar another 'overdose'.....

A clear warning to all other cops: don't get stupidly caught for not switching all cameras off! ????

How about similar charges for his superiors who didn't notice his extraordinary wealth and car collection?

currently being held in jail ahead of criminal prosecution for murder

Well, that's a relief. Was beginning to look like they pled it down.

Seems to be dragging on a bit.

Dereliction of duty? I think that is quite irrelevant in this case. It´s plain murder

why is this not becoming a 'normal' courtcase?

why is this handled inside?

in most countries like USA if police do something wrong then police investigates and prosecutor will handle further! I'm afraid here is not like that...

They noticed and participated, as usual.

And then maybe it was activated by persons unknown to ensure that a certain person was "caught out" for being a hinderance to bigger and better plans for a few others.

A post with an altered quote has been removed.

One more dereliction and he'll get transferred to work at his father in law's precinct.

Just another case of not passing brown envelopes upstairs.

Well thats it then. Case closed! Few months in the naughty corner of an inactive post then back to the car collection.

It used to be so much easier being a cop until all these cameras started recording everything.

In the good old days, one could just kill someone, stuff a bag of pills in their pocket, call them a dead drug dealer and nobody cared.

Assuming there is a punishment associated with this infraction, it would, at most, be 15 days without pay, or a reassignment to the restive South, or a promotion to the police reform committee.

Stating the bleedin' obvious'.  If they failed to notice his extraordinary wealth, what's the fuss about killing a drug dealer?
