ASEAN NOW Content Team
The Ministerial Regulation (Permenkumham) No. 34 of 2021, which allows foreign nationals to enter Indonesia, has undergone a number of reviews, according to the Ministry of Law and Human Rights. On Wednesday, the ministry's chief of public relations and general directorate of immigration, Arya Pradhana Anggakara, said, "The regulation is not published abruptly out of the blue, but has undergone examination from many parties, including the COVID-19 Task Force." He said that the Minister of Law and Human Rights, Yasonna Hamonangan Laoly, signed the Ministerial Regulation No. 34 of 2021 about the Visa Issuance and Residence Permits in the Period of Handling the Spread of COVID-19 and Recovering the National Economy. According to Anggakara, the new ministerial order (which replaces the previous one No. 27 of 2021) does not relax the rules for foreigners entering the country. He pointed out that the new legislation includes a new and stringent condition for foreigners wishing to enter Indonesia. "Every foreigner entering Indonesia is required to provide a vaccine certificate proving they have received a complete dosage of the (COVID-19) vaccine," he stated. He stated that any foreigner wishing to enter the nation must have a negative COVID-19 swab test result and health insurance that will cover the expense of treatment if they become ill.
