Hua Hin urged to crackdown on illegal hotels ahead of reopening

The former chief of the Prachuap Khiri Khan Tourism Authority of Thailand office told the Thai media that Hua Hin has a great future ahead.

She said that come November 1st domestic Thai tourists and Europeans are expected to arrive as the resort reopens.

Grants given to establish the airport as an international one would be a great boon for the resort.

But Orasa Awutkhom - four years the TAT area chief - cautioned that despite the great majority of the people of the area being double vaxxed this could all come to nothing if illegal migrants arrive to work in the sector.

This and the continuing problems of illegal hotels in Hua Hin need to be addressed as a matter or urgency, she said.

The never ending story of cracking down on illegal hotels just keeps on keeping on .

If the hotels are on the RTP's collection route, who is going to crack down on the hotels?

Saw this coming months ago.  Make sure any Airbnb type places are registered for legal short term rental, and get SHA+ status while you're at it. ❤️

This has been rattling around for years.

They'll only come if local businesses employ them... don't blame to migrants, blame the illegal employers.

That's why they're still open.

Maybe making it a lot easier for hotels to be legal should be the thing to do.

????

I'm not so sure they are talking about "hotels" per se as they are the so called "party houses"  where 20 people come in for the weekend and make a ton of noise and leave.  There are a bunch of those such places in HH.

Large brown envelopes from the illegal employers to forces higher up??

Yes, of course, but how? Do brown envelopes come to mind again here?

That per se again? Can nobody explain what it means?

No, just make it so if someone wants to open a hotel they can simply open a hotel. The current rules are more than absurd.
