Foreign and local people were found with narcotics and unlawful firearms at a party held in a room at the Khongkham Hotel in Sisattanak District, according to Vientiane Capital police.

Police were called to the scene on Monday, according to Vientiane Security News, where they discovered two groups of foreigners and Lao citizens who had organized a party.

Thirteen Chinese nationals and 19 Lao residents were discovered in rooms at the Khongkham Hotel in Phonsinuan, Sisattanak District, in clear violation of the Mayor of Vientiane Capital's Covid-19 regulations.

Three handguns, 40 bullets, and 19 sachets of methamphetamine were discovered at the scene by authorities.

Before being sentenced, the partygoers were tested for Covid-19 and held in isolation for 14 days. Those who host a party or gathering are subject to fines of LAK 3,000,000 per person and are accountable for any damages caused, including the spread of Covid-19, under current legislation.

Vang Vieng is a popular gathering area for illegal gatherings.

According to Lao National Radio, police were sent to Vang Vieng District in Vientiane Province on Sunday to detain groups of foreign and local citizens who had illegally organized parties at resorts and restaurants.

Mr. Bounchan Malavong, the governor of Vang Vieng Jurisdiction, claims that police in his district have discovered three distinct incidences involving unauthorized gatherings.

Six foreign workers employed by the Laos-China Railway project, as well as 28 locals, were discovered unlawfully holding gatherings in Vang Vieng resorts and bars.

Mr. Bounchan claimed that the majority of persons there had traveled to Vang Vieng illegally from Vientiane Capital.

According to Mr. Bounchan, police handed fines to both partygoers and restaurant and resort owners, who were also given a last warning and told to temporarily close their establishments.
