Amazing Thailand: Covid roving robots to patrol Chaeng Wattana

Visitors to the cavernous Government Complex on Chang Wattana Road in Bangkok - where foreigners mainly go to immigration - could get some Covid warnings from a new roving robot.

It's called Petro in English though the constructors are seeking a good Thai name for kids.

It will rove around the area checking on people's temperatures and whether they are wearing masks.

If they are over 37C or have forgotten to don their face covering a warning will be issued in Thai and English, reported Siam Rath

The media didn't give the wording, notes ASEAN NOW.

Hopefully it might be better than "Hey You! You're too hot!" and certainly not "Come quietly, Or there will be trouble!", a line from the 1980s movie classic Robocop.

After all it is just a warning!

Petro is a collaboration of Dhanarak Asset Development Co Ltd, the Treasury Department and Finance Ministry and the people responsible for maintaining cleanliness and order at the complex.

Tests are taking place this week and next week Petro will be fully on duty.

One frequent visitor to the complex said: "I'd buy that for a dollar!".

Money well spent. Thank goodness they didn't waste it on something frivolous, like, I don't know, vaccines?

........ and cost x0,000 baht but sold to the Thai government for x,000,000....

Then of course, it will go wrong and cost a lot of money to fix.

Someones making money off this juvenile idea that people probably think ‘na-rak’ !

Given up on the humans eh! Can't say I blame them.

Tacit admission Thai cops are too afraid to enforce the laws and/or if there's no money in it for them, won't do it

I went to Big C yesterday, the girl manning the desk at the door was asleep...

I took my own temperature signed the sheet and carried on in..

While doing this about 10 Thais walked straight past me without doing anything.

ATK kits or Covid-sniffing dogs would actually be useful instead of Robovac.

Right, just what we need, a TIT version of Johnny 5

Or propaganda

What was the robot in Lost in Space called.

maybe it should say,  Mask up or Die!!  and pack a bunch of free

masks for those who forgot theirs at home.  At least it

looks more useful for Thailand than one of those subs that the

Navy want to purchase.

Geezer

Lets see it navigate through these CW crowds.
