webfact Posted October 9, 2021 Share Posted October 9, 2021 Picture: Daily News Daily News reported that the Bangkok Metropolitan Adiministration under the leadership of Mayor General Aswin Kwanmuang were pressing ahead with the beautification of Bangkok post pandemic. Now that the Covid-19 situation is easing in the Thai capital all the efforts to improve the infrastructure of many of the city's klongs (canals) is back up to speed. Klongs that are part of the program are some of the city's biggest including Klong Banglamphu, Khu Muang Derm, Rorp Krung, Padung Krung Kasem and Saen Saep that runs from the Pathumwan area eastbound. Aswin itemised how Klong Padung Krung Kasem was being split up into different zones over a four and a half kilometer stretch. Picture: Daily News Work includes walkways, landscaping and the installation of CCTV cameras to enhance safety. Daily News said this was good news for people at the edge of the canals and visitors and would enhance the capital's tourism attraction. Liaison work with the Department of land Transport is also underway to introduce eletric boats to limit pollution. ASEAN NOW notes that improvements to Bangkok's waterways are well overdue.
