A restaurant near the Bali Hai Pier was allegedly found violating the emergency decree last night, at least the second time this particular venue has been raided.

Pattaya City Law Enforcement officers were patrolling at the Bali Hai Pier last night (October 13th). At 10:30 P.M. a restaurant (Sky Mountain) was allegedly found operating outside of the legal Covid-19 curfew hours from 10:00 P.M. to 4:00 A.M. and allowing customers to drink alcohol which violates current Covid-19 laws and the emergency decree. More than 50 customers were found inside the restaurant, according to statements from Pattaya City Law Enforcement.

Yup.  Stories like this will have the tourists fighting for a seat to Thailand, where they can be arrested for being in an open restaurant.

As more police arrived many customers fled, according to reports from police. Some customers dashed into the woods below the Pattaya Viewpoint and others reportedly ran into the sea across the street to escape being arrested.

Sounds like a perfect evening in paradise, doesn't it?

Some people evading capture ran into the sea.  Imagine if some poor sod drowned for committing the heinous and heretical crime of consuming a hamburger and a beer in violation of authoritarian dogma.

This would never have happened in the time of the Spanish Inquisition. I suspect even at the height of Stalin's purges that eating borscht and washing it down with a vodka  amongst your comrades did not necessarily end up with a stint in a gulag.

Tourists sitting in their homelands must be wondering what the November 1st opening must actually mean.

I believe I saw in the CCSA notes that as of 1 November, police will give punters a 30 second running start before arresting them.

Flight tickets must be flying off the shelf.

Sometimes confused with police.  The fact that they raided the place twice suggests this month's protection money has not been paid

It's a non event.

Well it is still only Oct 15th, and most of the crowd were likely Thai people.

If this happens with a restaurant full of tourists, the high season will be very short this

year and for the first half of 2022.  I hope this story makes some international news

papers etc.  Just what Thailand needs just before they plan their big November 1st

opening announcement.

Geezer

For the record, this is the second raid on Sky Mountain, the first happening at the end of May.

A friend of mine posted photos on Facebook of her drinking at Sky Mountain last week, and invited me to come.

Tessakit can do nothing; which is why the restaurant owner just ignored them. So they called the RTP.

Didn't stop the RTP from placing the foreigners in the front positions for their promo pic.
