I fly in on the 17th for a 6 week holiday, so I now need a visa. I'm going through the Thai embassy in Canberra (Australia) and their website says 10 business days to process. I gave them a call to ask a few things about the application process, but it goes through to an answering machine. My experience: Compared to most evisas the Thailand one is painful and asks for way too much unnecessary detail. It took me about an hour, mainly getting the docs etc, and the website being very slow. My main concern with the application is giving up all my bank details via the required Bank statement, as I doubt this info is very secure. Also, I don't have any official confirmation of hotel booking, other than a short email to my usual Guest house saying "i'm coming" and their reply "see you soon". The highlight of the process was when I paid and it came up with a big "there has been an error" and took me back to the front page, and my application disappeared altogether. It didn't show up at all on the evisa website (as incomplete or complete), but after about 10 mins the money went out of my account, and 5 mins after that it turned up on the evisa website as "processing". As of yet I still haven't received any confirmation of application email. If they're wanting people to spend more time in Malaysia or Vietnam then this is a good way to do it.
