Sukmawati Sukarnoputri will convert to Hinduism on October 26 during a 'Sudhi Wadani' ceremony.

Sukmawati Sukarnoputri, Indonesia's third daughter and first president Sukarno and his wife Fatmawati, has indicated that she will convert from Islam to Hinduism.

According to CNN Indonesia, Sukmawati's late Balinese grandmother, Ida Ayu Nyoman Rai Srimben, was a big influence in her decision to convert to Hinduism.

On October 26, the 69-year-old founder of the Indonesian National Party (Partai Nasional Indonesia-PNI) would accept the new religion in a Hindu rite known as "Sudhi Wadani."

Sukmawati was married to Kanjeng Gusti Pangeran Adipati Arya Mangkunegara IX until 1984, when they separated.

Her lawyer told the press that Sukarno's daughter has a thorough understanding of Hinduism and is familiar with all of Hindu theology's concepts and ceremonies.

Sukmawati drew the wrath of Islamists in 2018 after she recited a poem at Indonesia's Fashion Week, implying that a traditional Indonesian hair bun is more attractive than the veil worn by Muslim women.

She was forced to apologise to all Indonesian Muslims who had accused her of blasphemy and disrespecting Islam as a result of the outcry.

The GNPF Ulama, a hardline Muslim organisation, dubbed her a "religious blasphemer" and asked the public to back the cops in their efforts to apprehend and prosecute Sukmawati.

Not to difficult considering the veil is meant to be unattractive.
