KANCHANABURI, Oct 26 (TNA) – About 400 illegal Myanmar migrants were arrested over the past two days amid the influx of migrants from the neighboring county.

At 5.30pm on Oct 25, officials rounded up 71 illegal Myanmar migrants in Sai Yok district. They said they were waiting for traffickers who would bring them to work in Samut Sakhon, Bangkok, Nakhon Pathom, Saraburi, Chon Buri and Kanchanaburi provinces. They were required to pay 17,000-20,000 baht each to traffickers when they arrive at their destinations.

They were charged with illegal immigration and violation to the disease control measures of Kanchanaburi’s communicable disease committee.

or does that just apply to tourists  ?

Expensive hotels just for tourists  me thinks these poor Burmese will be incarnated in little more than a cattle shed for 2 weeks then sent packing across the border ...but perhaps/hopefully they will just be sent packing immediately ?

Thai traffickers in the thick of it and Thai employers willing to give them work.

It's a two-way street, if they can't get work they wouldn't come.

Time to hit both ends not just penalise the migrants.

And its a fact that these Illegal Migrants seeking work, have increased significantly from just after the announcement to open the Country up on 1 st November.

The Thai employers must be expecting a real surge, and require Staff to cope with the upsurge.

Its the Thai version of an Employment Agency, with Zero Hour Contracts.

A reasonable percentage I would assume, especially as Prawit seems to be aware of officials in the mix.

At certain border crossings lets say West & North west there seems to be a well beaten track and where wheels are greased to allow migrant labour in, without the usual border process.

Meanwhile in my moo ban, the young men lay about playing mobile games, race motorbikes up and down the road, then eventually turn to ya ba.

Oh, why won't the Thai employers give their fellow countrymen, the very future of their country, some good honest work? Come on, just hand them some tools and sticky rice! They're ready to go!

So are these 400 now going to be thrown into a AQ hotel, pcr'd  and forced to pay for the expense before release ? or does that just apply to tourists  ?

Good question, now let's see if we get an answer.

Brown envelopes are what makes this country tick. So much ‘unusual wealth’, it’s just ridiculous. But about 70% of the population doesn’t have any problems with it. As long as they can profit from the system as well, that is.
