joka
Hello, I am trying to set up my first LAN and am having a problem. The file sharing is working, but I cannot get a shared internet connection. It seems the IP address cannot be created. I am using the CAT CDMA aircard if it makes a difference. This connection does not have a static IP, it changes every time I reconnect. Is a switch or hub required for internet connection sharing? Thanks......
Guest Reimar
Setup Internet connection sharing by installaing a Proxy service on the comp to which the CDMA is connected. But if you use a "dialup" connection with the CDMA, you should set it to permanent connect.
joka
How do you set up a proxy connected to the Aircard? I already have the service set to never disconnect.
Rice_King
Here are two very good ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) "how-to" pages for BOTH Windows and non-Windows, Dial-Up and Broadband. Setting up Internet Connection Sharing and Sharing Your Internet Connection Go through these step-by-step. If you're still not connected, get back to us. joka
Hello, Thanks for the links, the practicallynetworked site is especially comprehensive, though it is a bit old. I haven't even seen Windows XP mentioned. It looks like one thing I will need is some extra software, to use as the proxy. Does anyone have any recommendations for this? joka
OK, got it working. Used a program called CCProxy. Thanks all!
