When it comes to international tourism, Laos will prioritize Vietnam and China.

When Laos reopens its borders to international tourists, it says it would give priority to visitors from Vietnam, China, and other ASEAN countries.

Mr. Ounthuang Khaophan, Deputy Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism, informed Vietnamese media on October 27 that tourists from surrounding countries will be given priority for entry into Laos.

After Laos has vaccinated at least 50% of its people against Covid-19, Vietnam, China, and ASEAN countries will be at the top of the list.

It aims to reach a vaccination rate of 50% by the end of 2021, having vaccinated slightly over 38% of the population so far.

As a result, the country has yet to set a date for welcoming back vaccinated foreign tourists, according to the deputy minister.

At the same time, senior authorities in Laos stated earlier this week that the country may try out group golf vacations for South Korean people, using charter flights to and from Incheon International Airport.

Fully vaccinated Korean golfers would travel to Laos for a nine-day golfing package that would allow them to play at two courses in the capital city of Vientiane.

While Laos has been added to a list of 72 nations that have been accepted by Vietnam for admission into the country following its reopening, it is noticeably absent from a list of countries that have been allowed for travel into Thailand.
