Cambodia mulls carbon neutrality at COP26

Featured Replies

Cambodia is preparing a long term development strategy on carbon neutrality, according to the Ministry of Environment, calling for additional technical support and funding.

These calls were made Wednesday by Sum Thy, deputy secretary-general of the ministry’s General Secretariat of the National Council for Sustainable Development while attending the Climate Change High-Level Roundtable of the Asia Water Council Special Session of 26th Summit of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP26), held in the UK’s Glasgow.

Addressing the discussion, Thy briefed participants from Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Mongolia, South Korea, the K-Water organization, and the Asia Development Bank, that Cambodia has developed a 10-year National Strategic Plan for Climate Change, and recently submitted to the Secretariat of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change the updated Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC).
