Thailand’s Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) has expressed concern over new COVID-19 infections among people attending Kathin ceremonies, to present saffron robes to monks in temples, and has advised them to exercise extreme caution to protect themselves from the disease.

 

CCSA Assistant Spokesperson Dr. Apisamai Srirangsan said today (Monday) that they had noted that new infections, related to people who attended a recent Kathin ceremony in the north-eastern province of Khon Kaen, have surfaced in Yasothon, Roi Et, Si Sa Ket, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Sing Buri, Kanchanaburi and Satun provinces.

 

New infections linked to funerals have also been detected in Kanchanaburi, Phatthalung and Songkhla provinces, she added.

Funerals and Watts, what they have in common is no social distancing with many people congregating around food and well.....cases spread.

Protect who?

The people from the monks. the monks from the people, everyone from everyone or just this type of gathering that doesn't upset the PM?

Religious events have been super spreaders all over the world.  South Korea got hit especially hard.
