The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) today, November 11th, has issued a warning of possible flash floods, high water levels, and flooding in particular areas nationwide.

According to the announcement, the areas at high risk of flash floods are mostly in Southern Thailand, including Chumphon (Lamae, Sawi Pathiu, Tha Sae, Mueang District), Surat Thani (Donsak and Tha Chana District), Nakhon Si Thammarat (Sichon, Muang, Lan Saka, Nopphitam, Tha Sala District), Songkhla (Mueang District), and Narathiwat (Rueso District)

The surveillance areas for possible overflowing and flooding include three regions of the Northeast, the Central, and the South.

Northeastern areas include Nong Bua Lamphu (Non Sang District), Maha Sarakham (Kosum Phisai, Kantharawichai, Mueang District), Kalasin (Kamalasai District), Nakhon Ratchasima (Non Sung and Phimai District), and Ubon Ratchathani (Mueang and Warin Chamrap District).

They prevent what exactly?

The PM promised no floods this year, everything was in-hand and actions were being taken to prevent floods.

They're more into mitigation than prevention.

Is this Prawit's masterplan in action?

They obviously didn't think much of my suggestion to rename "The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM)" to "The Department for Clearing out the Drains when there is Nothing else to do in the Dry Season (DCDNDS)".
