BANGKOK, Nov 11 (TNA) – The Royal Thai Police Office proposed deliverymen wear numbered jackets to prompt them to follow traffic rules as they have been involved in many traffic accidents.

Pol Gen Damrongsak Kittipraphat, deputy commissioner of the Royal Thai Police Office, said the office proposed all couriers number the uniforms of their staff to facilitate investigation into traffic accidents.

He convened representatives of relevant governmental organizations, couriers and road safety networks to a meeting to discuss ways to reduce traffic accidents caused by reckless deliverymen on motorcycles.

But it tastes much better when it has been on the footpaths, the wrong way down roads against traffic, cut in front of others, and through red lights.

This idea worked so well with the registered motorcycle taxis!

if only there was a number affixed to the vehicle, issued from a government body that can be used to identify owner and drivers/riders, you know put it on a plate and fixed to the vehicle or something

Guessing having the name on the courier box on the back of the bike went right over their heads

Outrageous idea.... it’ll never take on...

I want to be in some of these meetings..... just to ask...  <deleted> really ????

There is definitely scope for an openminded individual to advise and help those in positions of decision making power and prevent them from communicating their thoughts !!!

Indeed. If the company is assigning the numbers, then okay. But if it becomes part of the DLT or the RTP, then it will just wind up being the same corruption forced upon the motorcycle taxis. I suspect this is the ultimate goal of this proposal.

If there would just be something like... let's say a plate, attached to vehicles, which would allow to identify the owner, then those vests weren't necessary

They can be issued at the same time as the drivers obtain their driving licence and or register their bikes-foolproof or what?

Yet none of these items - coloured vests, numbered vests or numbered plates on vehicles - really addresses the base problems.

Phuckwits will continue to have this unsafe driving character regardless of the masked charade.

But what would be the solution? Proper training before allowing people to drive/ride and making police do their job sounds way too difficult.

You deserve to have a posting ban for even thinking about something logical.

????????

They should employ people to police and enforce  the road laws.

Ohh, wait........................

Yeah because we all know color-coded vests will instantly convey safe driving skills.

More lipstick for the pig.

How will identifying culprits of multiple accidents work if they are not banned already using the law as it is?

Why not, works well with the motorcycle taxi lads, no?

Why on earth does a bloke or blokess delivering noodles for Food Panda need a numbered jacket?

Because the proles have found a new way of scraping a living. We must control them, so we can collect the appropriate "informal fiscal contributions"!

They'd all be called Somchai

They'd all claim to have been riding someone else's bike if anything happened

Good Idea. It would perhaps make the motorcyclists think twice if they can be easily identified

No kidding!! This is the first step for the mafia to really get their foot in the door as they run the motorcycle taxis.
